  1. Well today was a very interesting day. Something that I am not sure how many people are aware of and maybe the reason why there are so many problems and confusions is that our professor told us he did not know that what we where doing was suppose to be considered an internship. He said if it is suppose to be one then he will try to make it more as if it were one.

  2. Today we didnt have class, so it was kinda boring around da dorms today. It kinda always like that when there is no class. However, I did do some more research on our "FINAL PRESENTATION" for ENV 300. Our main topic is Climate Change but we have many sub-topics to choose from. I chose Layers of the Atmosphere. I thought that was fun to do and pretty easy. Wondering what Dr. Wilson gone talk about tomoorow. He's pretty interesting.

  3. I just had to comment on Dechanta's post. Layers of the Atmosphere is such an intresting topic to do a research poject on!! Did you know that there were four different layers? Professor Wilson talked about a few of the layers today in connection to our dicussion about satellites. I did a little research on the layers of the atmosphere my freshman year as well and found myself intrigued. I hope your project goes well!

  5. Fridays are usually class-free for me, but today was not assignment- free for me. When I say assignment, I mean i was busy doing some brainstorming on my project which will be presented towards the end of this session. In the last class, the teacher, Prof. Wilson was busy dishing out his captivating lecture enthusiastically. But that class has been over for over 24 hours, and am still thinking about all the aspects of"Troposheric / Stratospheric Chemistry". Now that's my project topic.

  6. There was no class today, so I kind of stayed indoors all day. It was as boring as the previous free day. I think I am creating fun for myself. I came back from an interesting occasion that I spelt out this internship program to everybody, and I think they found it fascinating.. overall, it was a great day.. yes, I played ping pong as usual, and as I noticed, the loser this time didn't say anything about winning .. Anyway, I know how it feels... I am really anxious for tomorrows class because it is getting more interesting.. with vanessa doing what she gotta do... wonder how tomorrow's is goina be...

  7. Today we didnt have class but I still looked up some information for our ENV 300 class Final Project. My duty is to find information on natural disaters. My partner and I found the top ten natural disaters. My roommate and I have worked all day on trying to find out different things that we can enclose in our final project. Other than that we hung around the dorm, Its a little boring because we are in Aiken but the mall have alot of good shoe stores and some Jays are coming out tomorrow! YaY, got class tomorrow ill be back to tell you about it!

  8. Today class was quick and str8 to da point. We took a exam, but actually we kinda gave our own exam. I knew it was gone turn out that way, so it was pretty easy. However, next week Mr. Wilson says things are going to get harder. WHY??? I like things just the way they are...LOL! Anyways, after class Mr. Wilson suggested to take us to get some icecream...treat was on him. No one refused, but when we got there it wasn't open yet. That was a bummer, but oh well. We will try again next time.

  9. I had class today! I know you are probrably looking at the date and saying YOU HAD CLASS ON SATURDAY! but trust me it wasnt as bad as you would think it'll be. Yes we did have to get up early but in class Mr. Wilson went straight through class and ended fairly early. We had a test, I got a 100 on so I was kinda excited. After we finished with class Mr. Wilson offered to take us to get some ice cream! Now isnt that just the sweetest thing. It was even sweeter that he offered to pay for everyones ice cream. It was a total let down to find out that the ice cream shop was closed when we got down there. So we just boarded the van an headed back to Aiken. Later some of the other interns and I took a trip to the mall. Its fun to have new friends and to have time to hang with them on our spare time. TTYL!!!

  10. We had a very precise lecture today. Discussed about energy and life, but Mr. Wilson preferred not to teach the bomb formation as he used to do. We also had a test that we prepared ourselves. I have never taken such test before. It threw light to the way to set intelligent questions; its not that easy. Overall, the test was easy. After the class, unfortunately, we missed the free ice cream treat because the shop was closed. Maybe they new we were coming.... In order not to get bored, I, together with some other interns, went shopping after my contineous win in ping pong.. the loser is still not writing about it anymore. anyway what do u expect..lol.. Its getting more exciting... for real...

  11. Yesterday was Saturday and my morning class held as usual. It wasn't really a long class session like the week day lectures but within whatever time the class held, the points were well made by our one and only "environment enthusiast". I'm talking about Prof. Wilson. It was brief and lively. As simple as that.

  12. Sundays are usually class free everywhere so I had a good sleep after which I faced my upcoming opponent in the ping pong game. Some of us can tell the rest of the story. I am just ready for my next class and also researching for my presentation...

  13. I had a good nite rest because it was Sunday. I dinot do anything special, but played my usual game. Won as usual... later, i was bored cos I couldnt find something fun to do. still working on the class project..

  14. It is most likely that we wouldn't have to drive all the way down to the site to have a class. Class today was held in one of the classrooms in the Pacer Commons and I felt a bit morecomfortable in this environment. I am also preparing for my class's first field trip to the Columbia Water Treatment Plant...

  15. We had class today, We didnt go to te site but we did have class. The class met in one of the classrooms that is in our dormitory(yes we couldve came in pj's if we wanted lol j/k) but we started around 8:50 and went non stop for about two hours. Our instructor Mr. Wilson talked about his perspective on human hunger in developed countries and developing countries. My insight on it kind of agrees to what He was saying but some I didnt. I understand how people may say that the U.S. waste so much food but at the same time we arent the only ones. I feel that yes the United States could improve on alot of wasting but alot of other countries could demonstrate developtment. The U.S has its own starving areas. Other than that class went well.

  16. A better decision of not going to the site for lectures was taken today. Today's discussion was based on Human Population, so Mr. Wilson really went of the box as usual. He related to charity and tolerance. The lecture was at a point touching. Anyway, all he said was not really new to me, I think I have seen some of it with my eyes. At the end of the class, Mr. Wilson emphasized on the negligence of the proposed project. He gave me an overview of how my part of the project should be done. This means that I will have to go back to work so I can make a very good project. The first field trip holding on thursday was also talked about. I think that will help in overview of the environment. Cant wait for the day. After class, I wacth TV for a very long time and everthing followed...

  17. Class saturday was the best so far!!! (ENV 492) We went out to the field close to Dr. Wikes home and sent up traps to catch small insects and took notes on the surrounding areas. In near by standing water, we found toad eggs ready to hatch in about a day or two! They looked like clusters of air bubbles. What we also found were tracks from many different types of animals. I even ate a wild plum!! I was scared at first but it was very sweet and ripe. Afterwards we tool a 2 mile hike around the area, observing the land and seeing whay other animals called home.

  18. Today we took a trip to SC Department of Health Environmental Control (SCDHEC) is was very interesting for me.This was in Aiken and it was environmental control office. The duties of SCDHEC are career paths that I want to follow especially Air quality, Water Quality, and Waste Management. They gaves us a tour of their laboratories where they test water for Total or Fecal Coliform in private or residential wells. how they use ambient air monitoring to check air quality. Is what fun I enjoyed it.

  19. Today went went to the one of the City of Columbia Water Works. It's called the Columbia Canal Water Treatment Plant. I forgot our tour guide name but she was cool. The source of water they use is the Broad River Canal. It's pretty neat how the water treatment process is. It goes through 7 steps everyday. The employees are on board 24 hours a day/7 days a week. NO BREAKS!!! I wouldn't be able to do it, but they do get paid good...LOL! Anyway, after trip I swear I dont we was done for today, but nooooo class 4...lol!!! Mr. Wilson cracks me up.

  20. Ok, so I'm a little behind. Monday's class was interesting. I felt as though we discussed a lot more things relevant to the purpose of the class. I feel like Monday was our most productive day yet; however one thing I did not like about Monday's class was the extensive talk about writing skills. I just didn't think it was necessary.

  21. Todays class was one of the best ones yet. We went on a educational outing(field trip) and by far it was very cool. We went to a water treatment plant and seen EVERY step that the water goes through to become purified and drinkable. The water goes through about 10 to 12 steps to become purified. This was very easy for me to relate to and understand because my father is a chemist at a Water Treatment plant back home. So this trip was like a walk in the park for me. It was very interesting to see how the dirt and sediment that is in the water settles and clots together at the bottom of the tanks after the chemicals are added to the water. The only thing that was wrong was that it was very hot and I am terrified of bridges that are over water. but other than that it was a real learning experience this program is gettin better and better!!!!

  22. No Class today! hey im not complaining but I kind of cant wait for tomorrow. I have a paper due to my instructor and I cant wait untill he reads mine. Ive been working on it for a day and I really put alot of work into it. I hope I do good on it. Its just a recap on our field trip to the water plant. But I actually went into depth about what happens at the Water Treatment plant. With a little help from my dad I spruced up the essay alot. I myself didnt do much today. We had a meeting today which I like because the TA's try to keep in touch with us alot. THEY LOVE US!!!! All Im doing today is waiing for tomorrow because Ms. Grant have scheduled us a cookout tomorrow. I think its so cool how they have things planned for us. Its GREAT!!!!!

  23. After a very short night, I went to the Saturday morning class. Amongst every other things discussed in class today, were some funny but inspiring comments made in class about "the other boys and girls." The professor also gave us a test on an environmental science article in his unconventional but interesting method. By the way, there's gonna be a cookout later on, has to be fun..no other option....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Today I had class, Mr. Wilson let everyone in class go up and teach a little something in class. We also turned in our first paper today which I think that I did fairly well on. After that we had a test prepared and ready for and I got a 85% on. I wish I had done better but hey a B isnt bad at all. After that Mr. Wilson dismissed class and told us to go and prepare for the cookout. My roomate and I cleaned four bags of chicken. My homie Jeff threw down on the grill outside we had so much fun outside. My roomate and I even went as far as in filling up a bag of water balloons. We threw a couple at Jeff the Chef and played around with the rest. But in all we had so much fun today. Thanks Ms.Grant for the cookout!!!!!!!

  25. Yesterday was a very interesting day. We had a fun class. We had a new form of testing that I found interesting. Afterwards, we were asked to come in front of the class and answer questions asked by Prof. Wilson. This was to help build our ability to speak in public though it is not so new to me. The next activity we have be waiting for, the cookout, got started. While I was waiting for the food to be done, I played volleyball with my colleagues. I must say Jeff did a great job, for real.. Overall,it was aight... We were down there for quite a long time, then later followed the most fun part of the day........

  26. Yesterday being Saturday was fun filled, from the morning class to the cook out to everyother thing that took place for the rest of the day. Alongside the cook out, I played volleyball, which I haven't done in a while. The rest of the day was spent indoors and I don't need to say whether it was fun or not. Obviously, it was not not fun...

  27. This is Sunday and believe me, I alongside other interns have seen a different side of everything, most importantly, the interesting pasrts of Aiken, SC. We first saw the Polo sport earlier, which was fun. Afterwards, we had something like a little tour around Aiken, the polo country. Everything about today was fun, and that's what it is supposed to be because all work and no fun makes the interns.....

  28. This past Saturday I had class for ENV 300, we had to turn a paper on our visit to City of Columbia Water Works. In class Professer Wilson put the class through some public speaking exercise which I feel it will be usefull to me bieng that I want attend grad school, later we had a cook out.The cookout was great, we had hambugers, hotdogs, steaks, chicken, porken beans and potato salad. There other intens including myself playing volleyball and dancing to music.

  29. hhmmm...class class class.!!!! Class on thursday was cool. We met at 8 am and went to the field to check all th pitt fall traps and small mammal traps. Unfortunately we didnt catch anything but ants!!! :( so we added more preservatives and will be checking back on saturday!! It was steaming hot!!! So we worked in the field for a few hours then headed back to campus for lunch. The rest of class was held on campus to discuss the final project. Not too bad.!

  30. Yesterday class was cool. We had to submit our report on our trip to the water treatment plant. Dr. Wilson liked mine the most because i had mine printed out and everything. He said i got an automatic "A"...LOL!!! I sure hope so...naw i kno so...lol! Anyways, he had us come to the front of the class and he asked us different questions. Well not all of us because he forgot about me...lol

  31. Where I am going to start? Today's fun was too much. We went to this polo match, the first I have ever gone, in the afternoon. The game was very interesting. I had another chance to take a picture close to a horse after a long time. After the game, we a had lunch and headed to our Aiken tour. Finally, Mr. Wilson fulfilled his promises about getting all of us ice-cream, thank God they were open this time. We had a nice walk around downtown Aiken. I can see the connection between we interns are getting stronger, and I like it. We really had fun with Mr. Wilson.. Hope this continues...

  32. Okay.. am just sitting right here trying to bring together the different elements of my research work for a start. Prof. W needs to see something by tomorrow to show that we are progressing. Of course we are..say yes. So, we have to show him what we have done so far. No class today so I'm devoting time to get this done.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Spent almost all of today trying to make up the first draft of my part of the presentation. I really have to show that I have done a little work. I am expecting corrections because because that is one of the reasons the rough draft is made. I hope this first impression helps the whole project. other than than, I aint did nothin much, but still feeling good.

  34. Sweltering...humid...something like hell!!! those are the first few thoughts that ran through my head today as i headed out for class! Today we sorted through all the traps, analyzing data and taking mental notes as to how many different insects could be found in one ecosystem. We had to combine the jars and bags then since the preserving fluids off. We then added water and picked all the insects out and added them to a alcohol solution. It was long and tideous but you never realize that there are than many insects!! We also recieved the firat half off our final project and we plan on workin on that at 1:30!

    ReplyDelete
  35. After the field trip today we had class(ENV 300). We talked about ecology and the ecosystem. Mr. Wilson is really into his lesson. He gets excited about things. We also talked about our final presentation like always. We got into our groups and discussed how we was gone do this presentation. Me and emole got everything together. All we have to do is just make our drafts and submit them.

  36. Not sure what day it is but damn it's hot. Anyways so far things have been going well. I am really enjoying myself in all of my classes. I am kind of excited to see how things turn out in Env 492 we have been collecting a lot of data from our projected and surprisingly have captured alot of different types of insects which will hopefully give us some useful informaiton about the ecosystem that we are studying. As far as a the final thing well I guess you will just have to wait and see.

  37. The day kicked off with the field trip to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC)which is situated a little more than five minutes from the USCA campus. The whole trip took about a total of three to four hours which were well spent on informative and educative sessions. On returning from the site, I prepared for my afternoon Env. 300 class that took place about an hour after we came back. It was an interesting day, not unlike the other days.....

    ReplyDelete
  38. The end of the first session is drawing near day by day, and Prof. Wilson is also stressing the fact that the presentation of our project be "juicy" and 'spicy'. After our field trip to the US Corps of Engineers, we had a class and had a session on how to better organize our research paper/ presentation.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Our last class on Wednesday was pretty mundane, we spent the majority of the day working on our final papers. We went to the computer lab in the morning before lunch to do research and expand upon our outlines. After lunch Professor Wilson spent most of our class time expressing his distaste with my tardiness of less than ten minutes that morning in a very unprofessional manner; therefore, the afternoon portion of our class wasn't very productive at all.

    ReplyDelete
  40. After the field trip yesterday we had class. Mr. Wison talked about the syllabus. He wants to make sure he sticks to his word and follow the syllabus. After talking about that for an hour or so he discussed the presentation/research paper. He wants us to work on it some more to improve it. I think me and emole almost through with our part though.

    ReplyDelete
  41. After we had the field trip we got a little break (Thnaks Mr. Wilson) then we were to report back to class to discuss some things, basically about our project and Mr. wilson was going over the syllabus since we are coming to the end of his class h just wanted to make sure that he covered everything that he said he was going to cover and He DID! He then began to dicuss about our final project which my partner and I are almost done!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Today we had class and Unfortunately It wasnt very long. Mr. Wilson discussed how we expected our final paper to very good and tastefull since we been talking about it since Day 1. He gave us the day to prepare and submit it to him no later than tomorrow morning. My partner and I have been working and puting together a final product to turn into him. We got about four in a half pages of pure genius. LOL! Our group is discussing how climate change effect natural disasters! We got it ready for him!

    ReplyDelete
  43. We had a very short class today because we needed more time to work on our projects, and also because we are done with the course outline. Which class won't be done with theirs with such curiosity and love of the class. Mr. Wilson told us to make sure we will have, at least, a rough draft by tomorrow. That is really my problem because I already gave him mine. As usual, I played ping pong and won. Other than that, I have been on the computer. I look for to the presentation day, let ENV 300 class show them what we've got. Aint it??

    ReplyDelete
  44. It was a short day beacause I woke a little late. I spent most of my time today on the computer and ont he phone. I talked to people at home.. I really miss them. I also worked on the article I was writing. I watched as my colleagues struggled to print their work and it was funny because I already did it.I did not do a lot today, but it was aight.

  45. Class this past saturday (6/20) was alot of fun! We had a guest speaker come in that was a good friend of Dr. Wikes and who also used to work on the Savannah River Site. He has been studying wild pigs/hogs for the past 35 years!! So he is very knowledgable on the subject. He has been featured on specails concerning wild hogs on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, National Geographic, Fox news and more. He even wrote a book on it!! We were lucky enough to watch HOGZILLA,the specail on the discovery channel. It definatly tied into wildlife ecology and was a change from what we had been doing

    ReplyDelete
  46. Our class on saturday was very short. We only stayed like 20 mins. I aint complaining doe. That was good for me because i had a lot to do. Anyways all Mr. Wilson talked about was our research paper and presentation. he wanted a draft of everyone's part in the research by sunday afternoon. Me and emole was the first to turn it in. We "TOP FLIGHT" like vanessa would say...LOL

    ReplyDelete
  47. There was no class on Monday so I did some finishing touches on my project. I also watched Vanessa and J J play ping pong, urgh.. she lost. We a nice dinner at Jeff's room. Vanessa cooked a box chicken wings, oohh, it was good!! We had a good time though..

  48. Every passing day seems hotter than the last!! Luckily we completed our work from inside the science building today!! We classifed the insects caught for our final project today, which was very tideous but only the begining! Next we have to record the genus and species which could take forever!! But I am looking forward to class on thursday. We get to visit the SRS's alligator Stumpy and watch him feed....a deer is what i hear. Supposedl he is about 12 feet long. This will be a sight to see because i have never seen an alligator in real life. Cant wait :-)!

  51. I am enrolled in ENV 306, Land Use Decisions, taught by professor Wilson. He seems to be a lovely professor with an undeniable passion for the subject matter. He was able to lecture for 3 consecutive hours with only a single sheet of paper as his guide. We covered topics such as livelyhood, property rights, and appropriations just to name a few. We also went over some possible topics for our final project. So we worked in the field for a few hours then headed back to campus for lunch. The rest of class was held on campus to discuss the final project.

  52. The first layer goes from 0-10 kilometers and the second layer goes from 10-50 kilometers. After class we went to popeyes and then we took a tour of the site. I was kind of disappointed with the tour because I thought we were going to see more of the site. I only remeber where a few things were like the dog pens, fire trucks, and the ice machines. On the other hand class was fun I love my teacher and I can't wait to for next class.

  53. It was a nice experience being reminded of what I have a passion for, the environment. The lecture was not like a single topic discussion, but also included life skills. Apart form the environmental studies, the instructor, Prof. Wilson, emphasized of the management of money(credit score)- how it affects emplyment in future, and the impact of life skills alongside a high GPA. He continued by bringing to light, space science, a disciple I never considered . He explained how this disciple alone is multi-displinary. The class was was one of kind I expected to have in this internship, though I got tired by the end of the second hour.

  56. In ENV 492 we learned that there are 1,017,018 species of insects in the world with some experts estimating that there just might be as many as 10 million species out there. That means you could spend your whole life looking at different kinds of insects and you'll never be able to see them all. It's hard to imagine, but 95% of all the animal species on the earth are insects! There are so many insects with different insect characteristics we had to limit our insect facts to the top 100 most interesting insect facts . To give you an idea just how many insects there are consider that on average there are millions of insects living on every single acre of land!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I really like my ENV 492 class we learn how Insects are arthropods (a type of invertebrate, animals that lack a backbone). These insect creatures are divided up into 32 orders, or groups. The largest insect order is the beetles (Coleoptera) with 125 different families and around 500,000 different species. In fact, one out of every four animals on earth is some type of beetle bug.

    ReplyDelete
  58. We learned that Satellites in orbit around the Earth experience atmospheric drag. Atmospheric drag is the resistive force of the molecules of the atmosphere. The amount of drag is dependent on the density of the atmosphere, the shape and size of the object, the material it is made of, and other factors.
Result of Atmospheric Drag Atmospheric drag causes a satellite to slow down, thus the satellite "falls" to a lower altitude to gain velocity. The atmosphere is more dense at the lower altitude resulting in even more atmospheric drag which causes the satellite to slow down even more. The result is that the orbit continues to decay. AGain I was in heaven!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. In ENV 306 we learn alot we learn that Satellite orbits with a perigee of less than 70 miles encounter so much atmospheric drag that they are not practical. Orbits with a perigee above 350 miles experience so little atmospheric drag that the orbit usually will not decay before the satellite fails for other reasons. This was very interesting to me because Mr. Wilson relates the space to the environment.

  60. I learned that The potential dangers of global warming are being increasingly studied by a wide global consortium of scientists, who are increasingly concerned about the potential long-term effects of global warming on our natural environment and on the planet. Of particular concern is how climate change and global warming caused by anthropogenic, or human-made releases of greenhouse gases, most notably carbon dioxide, can act interactively, and have adverse effects upon the planet, its natural environment and humans' existence. in class.

  61. In my ENV 492 I learned Insect respiration is accomplished without lungs using a system of internal tubes and sacs through which gases either diffuse or are actively pumped, delivering oxygen directly to tissues that need oxygen. Since oxygen is delivered directly, the circulatory system is not used to carry oxygen, and is therefore greatly reduced; it has no closed vessels (i.e., no veins or arteries), consisting of little more than a single, perforated dorsal tube which pulses peristaltically, and in doing so helps circulate the hemolymph inside the body cavity. This was very interesting to me.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I learned from Mr. Wilson Recently that The water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle, describes the continuous movement of water on, above, and below the surface of the Earth. Since the water cycle is truly a "cycle," there is no beginning or end. Water can change states among liquid, vapor, and ice at various places in the water cycle. Although the balance of water on Earth remains fairly constant over time, individual water molecules can come and go.

    ReplyDelete
  63. In Mr. Wikes class we recently learned that Many insects possess very sensitive and/or specialized organs of perception. Some insects such as bees can perceive ultraviolet wavelengths, or detect polarized light, while the antennae of male moths can detect the pheromones of female moths over distances of many kilometres.[18] There is a pronounced tendency for there to be a trade-off between visual acuity and chemical or tactile acuity, such that most insects with well-developed eyes have reduced or simple antennae, and vice-versa.

    ReplyDelete
  64. In my ENV 306 Class i learned that Climate change is the result of a great many factors including the dynamic processes of the Earth itself, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and more recently by human activities. External factors that can shape climate are often called climate forcings and include such processes as variations in solar radiation, deviations in the Earth's orbit, and the level of greenhouse gas concentrations. There are a variety of climate change feedbacks that will either amplify or diminish the initial forcing.

  65. I learned lately in my 492 class that A cathedral mound created by termites (Isoptera).Social insects, such as termites, ants and many bees and wasps, are the most familiar species of eusocial animal. They live together in large well-organized colonies that may be so tightly integrated and genetically similar that the colonies of some species are sometimes considered superorganisms. It is sometimes argued that the various species of honey bee are the only invertebrates (and indeed one of the few non-human groups) to have evolved a system of abstract symbolic communication (i.e., where a behaviour is used to represent and convey specific information about something in the environment),

  66. I learned in My ENV 306 class that external factors that can shape climate are often called climate forcings and include such processes as variations in solar radiation, deviations in the Earth's orbit, and the level of greenhouse gas concentrations. Climate change is the result of a great many factors including the dynamic processes of the Earth itself, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and more recently by human activities. On the longest time scales, plate tectonics will reposition continents, shape oceans, build and tear down mountains and generally serve to define the stage upon which climate exists.

  67. In our 492 class we learned Many adult insects use six legs for walking and have adopted a tripedal gait. The tripedal gait allows for rapid walking whilst always having a stable stance and has been studied extensively in cockroaches. The legs are used in alternate triangles touching the ground. For the first step the middle right leg and the front and rear left legs are in contact with the ground and move the insect forward, whilst the front and rear right leg and the middle left leg are lifted and moved forward to a new position. When they touch the ground to form a new stable triangle the other legs can be lifted and brought forward in turn and so on.

  68. For Mr. Wilson ENV 300 we learned that long-term change in the patterns of average weather of a specific region or the Earth as a whole. Climate change reflects abnormal variations to the Earth's climate and subsequent effects on other parts of the Earth, such as in the ice caps over durations ranging from decades to millions of years.Anthropogenic factors are human activities that change the environment. In some cases the chain of causality of human influence on the climate is direct and unambiguous (for example, the effects of irrigation on local humidity), whilst in other instances it is less clear. Various hypotheses for human-induced climate change have been argued for many years though, generally, the scientific debate has moved on from scepticism to a scientific consensus on climate change that human activity is the probable cause for the rapid changes in world climate in the past several decades.

  69. Mr. Wilson be teaching us how The ionosphere can absorb, delay or reflect certain frequencies of radio signals, therefore, the characteristics of the ionosphere have significant impact on the design and operation of communications systems between satellites and ground stations. The ionosphere is also important for groundtoground radio communications systems because they rely on the ability of the ionosphere to reflect radio waves to achieve long range.

  70. OMG what a way to end the session!!! I had so much fun today! We went on the Savannah River Site and went through all types of back roads.! It was very interesting to see the wildlife so up close and personal. We were on the SREL side of the site. We saw how baby alligators are produced and grown to 3 feet in one year by vegetational protein feed instead of getting protein from meats like fish and chicken! We saw so many different species of turtles, snapping turtles included. The largest snapping turtle we saw today weighed 70 lbs!! Huge! And they get bigger than that. But the mainnattraction of the day was stumpt the 13 ft gator, his wife and 4 kids!! At the end of the day we had a cookout, there was so much food and i definately left satisfied :-)

  71. WOW!!! The days at the field station are coming to a close. One more class and then that's it. However, we still have to do our final presentation. I think we will have that down pack. As long as everyone does their part, we will be alright.

  72. On my last day here at the field station i dont know what is going to happen. I dont even know how i will feel. But i know one thing i will be ready to go home and take on the world. For one mr wilson has offered the political side of every thing. And when you really think about it he is so right. Politics gets involed in everything that we do as people in thge world to day. If dont live in a good area or no the right people we will not be in the loop as said in the words of mr wilson. The last class day mr wilson gave us a lecture on how to be a better person and take responisiblity for yourself. I think he is so right. I will just miss the day of having class with him. And when i think about going back to my school and taking science i just want to cry.

  73. On Friday, our last day of class, we had a really short meeting and then dismissed to go work on our final presentations. About a half an hour into working on our presentations we were called back to class because we had a surprise presenter. She was from the zoning department and she taught us alot about the zoning regulations in Aiken. Overall, it was a good last day of class.

  74. OKAY!!! Today, well should I say yesterday, I was kinda mad. We was suppose to practice for our presentation and we didn't. People had attitudes and was trying to all talk at the same time and telling others what to do. I really ain't have time for all the DRAMA!!! Then the projector wouldn't connect so that really made things worse. I was getting aggravated and ready to go. This was one of my worse days. Hopefully tomorrow when we go to SRS it will be better. We gotta speaker coming from Clemson with Dr. Grant. Can't wait to see how that goes.
